Avilene Torkelson is a therapist who supports clients navigating trauma, grief, anxiety, and depression. She uses a trauma-focused, person-centered approach and works to create a space where clients feel safe, understood, and respected. Culturally humility is central to her practice, and she strives to honor each person’s identity and lived experience.

Avilene joined Kids Above All in 2022 as a clinical intern and continued with the agency after earning her LPC. She believes healing isn’t linear and meets clients with compassion, patience, and curiosity. In addition to her clinical work, she serves as a Journey Leader in Kids Above All’s Camp Sheilah program, supporting youth and their families impacted by the loss of a loved one to homicide, through mental health support that build connection and resilience.
