Other Ways To Give
For more than 125 years, supporters, like you, have helped our kids and families reach their potential and sustained our mission to place the safety, well-being and education of everything else.
We are truly grateful for your generosity and kindness!
If you are considering ways to increase your impact on the lives of the children who have experienced poverty, violence and injustice, we offer the following opportunities:
Planned Giving
Leave a lasting legacy of impact by including Kids Above All in your estate planning.
Kids Above All welcomes planned gifts in the form of bequests, life insurance policies, life estates, charitable remainder trusts, an IRA, 401(k), or 403(b) plan. Making a bequest or any other type of planned gift may generate tax benefits to the donor and provide long-term support for the school.
If you have questions or have already named Kids Above All as a beneficiary, contact Zulma Colon, VP of Resource Development, at [email protected].
Corporate Matching Gifts
There’s opportunity to double and sometimes triple your gift to Kids Above All when you work at a company with a matching gift program. Check with your human resources office for a matching gift form, and enclose it with your contribution. If you have questions, contact Zulma Colon, VP of Resource Development, at [email protected].
Donor Advised Funds
If you currently use a Donor Advised Fund to contribute to your favorite causes, add Kids Above All to your gift planning. We gratefully accept contributions through several DAF’s including Fidelity, Vanguard, Schwab, and more. Contact your DAF administrator and recommend that a contribution be made to Kids Above All.
Call Zulma Colon at [email protected] with questions or to discuss your giving options.
Stock Gifts
If you are interested in giving a gift of stock to Kids Above All, please provide a letter of direction authorizing your investment firm to transfer the stock and indicate the company and number of shares to be transferred.
Please contact Zulma Colon, VP of Resource Development, at (773) 867-7361 with any questions.
IRA Distribution
Kids Above All recently began accepting planned giving contributions through a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from an Individual Retirement Account (IRA), which saves on income taxes.
What is a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD)? Individuals who have an IRA may be required to withdraw a minimum distribution. The distribution counts as taxable income. However, a portion of it can be shared as a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) – transferring a given amount from your IRA directly to a charitable organization such as Kids Above All. This reduces your taxable income, satisfies your required minimum distribution, and makes a difference in the lives of our students.
Who qualifies? Individuals who were 70½ or older at the end of 2019.
How much can I donate? The maximum amount you can donate is $100,000 per IRA owner or $200,000 per couple per year.
If a current IRA rollover is not possible for you, please consider making Kids Above All the beneficiary of your retirement fund. Please consult with your tax advisor to determine if a qualified charitable distribution from your IRA is right for you and share any questions with Zulma Colon, VP of Resource Development, at [email protected].
In-Kind Gifts

A Better Life Coffee
Kids Above All has partnered with Chapin Coffee, a Chicago-owned company, on our A Better Life Coffee Collection. For each bag sold, 10% of the proceeds will help our kids to build better lives and a meal is delivered to a malnourished child in the coffee-growing community of Santiago Atitlan, Guatemala.
