Individual Therapy
Feel Heard, Supported, & Equipped to Improve your Mental Well-Being
Therapy with Kids Above All meets you where you are. Our counseling services offer a private, consistent setting to explore what you’re facing and work toward meaningful results at your own pace. We provide individual therapy for youth and adults across Cook, DuPage, Kane, and Lake Counties, delivered by licensed clinicians trained in evidence-based, culturally responsive care.
Our focus is simple: individually-tailored therapy that meets your needs and goals, giving you room to explore your life experiences and build skills that help you lead a productive, fulfilling life.
Therapy can take place in person or virtually, depending on what works best for you. Our clinicians meet you where you are emotionally, developmentally, and culturally, creating spaces where you feel secure and understood.
How Therapy Works
Therapy is collaborative. You and your clinician set goals together, adjust as needs change, and measure progress in ways that are meaningful to you.
- Format: One‑on‑one sessions with a licensed clinician
- Length: Typically 50–60 minutes per session
- Frequency: Weekly
- Location: In person at KAA sites or via secure telehealth
- Approach: An individualized plan aligned to your goals and comfort level

Therapeutic Approaches We Use
Our clinicians tailor treatment to each person’s age, needs, culture, and preferences. Approaches may include:
Art Therapy
Uses creative techniques such as drawing, painting, collage, and coloring to help clients express themselves, examining the psychological and emotional undertones in their art.
Child-Centered Play Therapy
For younger clients, allows children to express their feelings, process their experiences, and explore their challenges through play rather than solely words.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Helps clients identify unhelpful thoughts and develop healthier ways to cope with stress, anxiety, and emotional reactions.
Solution-Focused Therapy
Future-focused, goal-oriented approach that builds on clients’ strengths, clarifies what “better looks like, and focuses on small achievable steps.
Trauma-Informed Therapy
Seeks to address the mental health needs of those impacted by trauma through the use of modalities including the Attachment, Regulation & Competency (ARC) Model, Trauma-Informed CBT, Somatic Therapy, and experiential methods such as Mindfulness, yoga, and creative writing.

- Personalized attention: A dedicated space centered on your needs and pace
- Skill building: Practical tools for managing emotions, stress, and relationships
