achieving developmental milestones
In Kids Above All’s Parent Empowerment Program (PEP), parents receive the knowledge, resources and support to help them become their child’s first teacher. We offer families critically needed services through both individual family home visits and center-based group meetings. The parental training component of this program, along with addressing the isolation that many parents of very young children experience, is a strategy to prevent child abuse and break their cycle of poverty.
Our Parent Educators visit the families’ homes twice each month, bringing information and activities to make sure our kids achieve important developmental milestones. We use the Parents as Teachers curriculum, a nationally-recognized, evidence-based teaching model that focuses on developing the child’s emotional, language, physical and social skills.
The program serves kids and families living in poverty, in Chicago, Elgin, Lake County, and Suburban Cook County, laying a strong foundation for children to have a healthy home environment.
PEP is free to all participants who are enrolled in the program.
